PGS Projects collaborated with Southway Housing Trust to develop a 100% affordable housing development on the former site of The Unicorn Pub, located on Liverpool Road in Eccles. The homes are designated for Shared Ownership and have been designed to reflect the traditional Victorian architecture in the surrounding area.
The project, which had already received planning approval for 16 houses, benefited from Manor Architecture's expertise in technical design and on-site support and were tasked with redesigning the houses which were proposed to built traditionally with a new combination of timber frame and an innovative quartz-based brick slip system. This new brick slip system is applied to all external walls, including brick detailing, dental courses, and stone heads, sills, and features which will result in a maintenance free, eco-friendly construction solution which is intended by PGS Projects to be rolled out on new projects into the future.
The Manor Architecture team worked closely with the contractor and the wider design team to create a full suite of custom details for the new construction system which ultimately has helped with delivering the project ahead of program which is due to complete on site at the end of Q4 2024.
