Manor Architecture were asked by one of our Knutsford based planning partners to assist them with a planning application for a replacement family dwelling in the greenbelt. Due to growing family, the farm owner's current property has become too small and required something more suitable to accommodate not only his family, but his business as well.
Working within a strict design criteria set out by the local authority on replacement dwellings and the technical design brief from the planning consultant, we were set the task of creating a modern farmhouse design with contemporary living accommodation including essential functional space such as boot room and farm office to support the family business.
Utilising our expertise in residential design, we managed to accommodate all the requirements set out by the family and meet the criteria of the strict sizing of the replacement dwelling. The result was a farm house design which looks traditional from the surrounding views into the site incorporating features such you would expect to see on a Cheshire farm house and combining this with a more modern fenestration on the elevations facing into the family's private space.
Given our experience in designing everything residential from "super homes" to 100% affordable housing developments, we were able to design this compact 4 bed home to maximise the attractive yet functional internal space and create a home that the family will reside in for generations to come.
